Heard is live on the App Store today. You can download it at https://apps.apple.com/us/app/heard-voice-dating-app/id6761673628.
Heard is a voice-first dating app. You hear who someone is before you see them. No profile pictures until both people mutually agree to share. Personality leads, looks come later.
Why we built this
Dating apps trained a generation to judge people in half a second. We wanted to flip that. Voice carries everything a photo strips out: humor, warmth, hesitation, confidence. So we built the product around it.
Every day at 7 PM, you get six voice profiles. No infinite scroll. No swipe fatigue. You listen, you choose, and if the other person chooses back, you talk. Wavelength runs short voice calls between people we think will click. Daily prompts give you something to actually respond to. Streaks reward people who show up.
Where Heard is live
We are launching area by area, starting in the Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania. Northampton and Lehigh counties are open today. Nazareth, Bethlehem, Easton, Allentown, plus the surrounding college towns.
If you live somewhere else, request your area at heardapp.co. We open new regions based on waitlist density.
What ships in v1
On safety, Heard already does things most dating apps do not. Photos cannot be exchanged without mutual consent. Screenshots and screen recordings inside chat are detected and flagged. Photo uploads are scanned for CSAM through PhotoDNA, and NullDaily is a registered NCMEC Electronic Service Provider. Message moderation runs through Perspective API at the database layer. Single-device session policy keeps accounts from being shared or traded.
That is the floor.
What is next: women's safety
The next chapter of Heard is built around women's safety, and it is the work we care about most.
The biggest item is the Date Safety Live Activity. It is built, but we held it back from this release because we hit bugs we were not willing to ship. When it lands, you will get a lock-screen and Dynamic Island timer for the duration of a date, optional GPS tracking, scheduled check-in prompts, and an SOS that requires Face ID or a passcode to dismiss. It is the next thing out the door.
Alongside that, we are working on:
- Voice-based identity verification, so the person you hear is the person you meet
- Stricter onboarding for accounts targeting women, including risk scoring at signup
- A women's safety advisory group made up of survivors, researchers, and local advocates
- Quarterly transparency reports covering reports, removals, and law enforcement requests
- Share-with-a-friend date tracking links and venue-level safety data
- Faster takedown timelines on reported users and clearer appeal paths for the wrongly reported
We will say more about each of these as they ship. None of this is a marketing layer. It is the product.
